Introduction
In the whirlwind of life’s responsibilities and obligations, it’s easy to lose sight of our passions—those activities that ignite a spark within us, bringing us joy and a sense of fulfillment. As a Vancouver counsellor, I often see how the daily grind can overshadow the vibrant colours of our true desires, especially for highly sensitive people who might feel the weight of life’s demands more intensely.
At Constellations Counselling, we believe in the power of introspection and self-discovery to reignite that lost spark. Journaling, an age-old practice, provides a beautiful pathway into our inner world, allowing us to sift through layers of life’s commotion and uncover our authentic passions.

Here are 10 carefully crafted journal prompts to guide you on this journey of rediscovery. Remember, there’s no right or wrong way to approach these prompts. They’re simply springboards to dive deeper into your self-understanding and, hopefully, help you reconnect with what truly brings you joy.
1. Childhood Curiosities: Reflect on your childhood. What activities could completely absorb your attention? What did you dream of becoming? Are these interests still present in your life?
2. Joyful Moments: List five instances in the recent past where you felt truly joyous. What were you doing? Who were you with? What common themes do you notice?
3. Uninterrupted Time: If you had an entire day to yourself with no obligations, how would you spend it?
4. In the Flow: Recall a time when you were so engrossed in an activity that time seemed to fly. What were you doing? How did it make you feel?
5. Compliments and Critiques: What are the compliments you often receive? What criticisms tend to repeat? These can reveal what you’re naturally good at and what you’re passionate about defending or improving.
6. Dreams and Desires: If you had a magic wand and could instantly excel at any skill, what would it be? Why?
7. Removing Obstacles: Imagine there were no limitations—money, time, obligations were not a concern. What would you choose to do?
8. Inspiring Figures: Who are the people you admire the most? What qualities or achievements draw you towards them? Can these insights illuminate your own passions?
9. The Book of Life: If you were to write a book about any subject without worrying about its success, what would it be about?
10. Core Values: What are the top five values that resonate with you the most? How do your passions align with these values?
Rediscovering your passion is like awakening a part of your soul that’s been quietly slumbering. It may take time and patience, but rest assured, every step you take brings you closer to your authentic, passionate self. As your Vancouver HSP counsellors at Constellations Counselling, we know that highly sensitive people have a profound capacity for deep passion. Embrace these prompts and allow them to guide you on this beautiful journey of rediscovery.
