Sunday Calming Creative Circle
A mindful creative gathering rooted in ritual, presence, and community
About This Gathering
You are warmly invited into a sacred space of calm, creativity, and connection as we gather on Sunday evenings to gently ease into the week ahead.
The Sunday Calming Creative Circle is rooted in ritual and community care. It was created as part of my ongoing shift away from Western clinical models and toward ancestral wisdom, intuitive healing, and a return to the original ways of being together, through presence, creativity, and shared rhythm.
I’m Heather, a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Art Therapist, and founder of Constellations Counselling. In this chapter of my work, I’m reclaiming healing traditions that honour slowness, ceremony, creativity, and collective presence. This circle is one expression of that vision.
Whether you’re seeking connection, creativity, or simply a cozy space to land, this circle welcomes all who long to move through life with a little more softness and soul.
We meet Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:15 PM (Pacific Time) via Zoom. The meeting is hosted in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Please adjust for your time zone accordingly.
While therapeutic in nature, Sunday Calming Creative Circle is not a therapy group. It is a free, non-clinical community offering. No clinical services are provided, and no clinical records are created. This group is not eligible for insurance reimbursement. It is a gentle, creative circle focused on reflection, regulation, and connection.
An Evolution in the Circle
This gathering began as the Sunday Calming Colouring Circle. Over time, something beautiful unfolded.
Participants naturally began exploring different creative mediums…drawing, painting, journaling, symbolic art, pattern-making, knitting…gravitating toward whatever their nervous system and intuition felt called to in the moment.
Rather than directing the creative process, the circle has always centred the practice of mindfulness through doing, gentle focus, repetition, presence, and shared stillness.
The new name, Sunday Calming Creative Circle, reflects this organic evolution. The heart of the circle remains the same, only the doorway has widened.
What to Expect
Each gathering is designed as a softly held container that supports nervous system regulation and mindful presence through creativity.
The circle usually unfolds in short themed series, with each theme offering a gentle thread of reflection, often inspired by seasons, cycles, or shared human experiences. These themes help create continuity and depth, while still allowing each participant to meet the practice in their own way.
Sessions typically include:
- A gentle welcome and grounding ritual
- A guided visualization connected to the theme
- Intention Setting as a group
- Open creative time with music (participants choose their medium)
- A simple closing ritual or reflection
Themes are offered as invitations, not requirements. You’re welcome to engage with them closely, loosely, or simply let them rest in the background as you create.
This is not a space for critique, performance, or deep verbal processing. It is a space for doing less, feeling more, and being together.
Whether you arrive with colouring pages, a journal, collage, or simply curiosity, you are welcome exactly as you are.
April Series – The Body Awakens
Spring is no longer something we’re waiting for. It’s something we begin to feel. The body softens, energy returns, and there is a quiet invitation to move, expand, and reconnect. For Highly Sensitive People, this shift can feel both enlivening and overwhelming. This series invites us to come back into relationship with the body, not as something to push or control, but as something to listen to, move with, and trust. Through gentle somatic awareness, we’ll explore how to hold more energy, follow subtle cues, and inhabit our experience with care.
🌸 April 12 – Coming Back Into the Body
As energy begins to return, we may notice a pull outward, toward doing, planning, or engaging. But before we move outward, we first return inward. This gathering invites us to reconnect with the body as a place of safety, grounding, and presence.
Reflection Questions
- What does my body feel like today, without trying to change it?
- Where do I feel most grounded or settled?
- Where do I feel tension, holding, or disconnection?
- What helps me feel at home in my body?
Example Intentions / Affirmations
- “I return to my body with care.”
- “I listen without judgment.”
- “I allow myself to arrive fully.”
- “My body is a place I can come back to.”
🌸 April 19 – Following the Body’s Yes and No
As sensitivity heightens in spring, so does our awareness of what feels good, and what doesn’t. The body is constantly offering signals of expansion (yes) and contraction (no). This gathering explores how to begin trusting those signals.
Reflection Questions
- What does a “yes” feel like in my body?
- What does a “no” feel like?
- Where in my life am I overriding these signals?
- What would it look like to honour my body’s responses more fully?
Example Intentions / Affirmations
- “I trust my body’s signals.”
- “I honour my yes and my no.”
- “I don’t need to override what I feel.”
- “My body guides me toward what is right for me.”
🌸 April 26 – Holding More Energy Gently
Spring often brings an increase in energy, emotion, and stimulation. For HSPs, this can feel like both aliveness and overwhelm. This gathering focuses on how to hold more without becoming flooded.
Reflection Questions
- Where am I noticing more energy in my system right now?
- What feels enlivening vs. overwhelming?
- What helps me regulate when things feel like “too much”?
- How can I expand my capacity without pushing myself?
Example Intentions / Affirmations
- “I can hold this gently.”
- “I expand at my own pace.”
- “I allow energy without overwhelm.”
- “I support my nervous system with care.”
🌸 May 3 – Moving With What Wants to Grow
By early May, growth is more visible, both in nature and within us. This is a moment to begin moving with what is naturally unfolding, rather than forcing direction or outcomes.
Reflection Questions
- What feels ready to grow in my life right now?
- What feels natural vs. forced?
- Where am I being invited to take small steps forward?
- What would it look like to move in alignment with my energy?
Example Intentions / Affirmations
- “I move with what is ready.”
- “I trust natural growth.”
- “I take gentle, aligned steps.”
- “I allow my life to unfold.”
A Note to Participants
This group is a welcoming and inclusive space for all. We value kindness, respect, and support for one another, and any behavior that disrupts this will not be permitted.
As this is a free group, we kindly ask that you only reserve a spot if you’re certain you can attend. Spots are limited, as this group is intentionally kept small to foster a sense of safety, connection, and community. We want to ensure everyone who feels called to join has the opportunity to take part in this gentle, reflective space. If something comes up and you can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation to release your spot or let me know in advance so I can offer your spot to someone else.
No-Show Policy:
If you sign up for the event twice and do not show up twice without contacting us in advance, we will no longer reserve your spot. We keep our groups small to foster connection and ensure that everyone who wants to attend has a chance to do so. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making this a supportive space for all.
Privacy + AI Recording Policy
To honor the privacy and sacred nature of our gatherings, Constellations Counselling does not permit the use of AI-based meeting tools or automated note-taking apps (such as Read.ai, Otter.ai, or Fathom) in any group or session. These apps can sometimes join meetings automatically when linked to a participant’s calendar or Zoom account even without the person’s awareness. To protect the confidentiality and integrity of our spaces, all attendees are asked to disable or disconnect any such tools before joining. Our circles and groups are intentionally human-only: grounded, creative, and private spaces where real presence matters.
Why Mindfulness Through Creativity?
Mindfulness isn’t about emptying the mind. It’s about focus.
By practicing focus, we build the ability to pause…the space between an action and a reaction. Without this pause, we often move through life on autopilot, driven by stress, emotion, or overwhelm.
Creative activities offer an accessible, embodied way into mindfulness. They allow the mind to settle while the hands stay gently engaged.
Over time, this practice supports:
- Nervous system regulation
- Emotional steadiness
- Increased self-awareness
- Greater capacity to respond rather than react
This circle exists to help cultivate that habit, not through effort, but through repetition, ritual, and shared presence.
Why Connection Matters
Connection is essential for mental health. Gathering in community, even online, creates a sense of belonging and shared rhythm. It reminds us that mindfulness does not have to be practiced alone. This circle offers a space where presence is felt collectively, where silence is shared, and where being together is enough.
Why Creativity?
Creative mindfulness is grounding, regulating, and deeply human.
Participants are encouraged to bring whatever feels supportive in the moment:
- Colouring
- Drawing or doodling
- Journaling or symbolic writing
- Pattern-making or intuitive mark-making
There is no “right” way to create here. The value lies in the act itself, the rhythm, the focus, the return to the present moment. Presence, not product, is what matters here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the circle take place?
The circle is hosted on Zoom. Please note that the host is in Vancouver, BC, Canada (PDT time zone), so be sure to check the time difference for your location.
Do I need to bring anything?
Yes, all participants must come with their own art supplies, including colouring books, sheets, or whatever you’d like to work on.
What if I’m running late?
We kindly ask that you arrive on time to honor the shared space and respect everyone’s time. Please note late arrivals will not be admitted during the Grounding and Intention-Setting rituals, as these moments are part of a sacred flow, and interruptions can disrupt the group’s energy and focus.
What if I can’t stay for the entire session?
You are welcome to leave early if needed. We understand life happens, and we’re happy to have you join for as much time as you’re able.
Can I join if I’ve never practiced mindfulness before?
Absolutely! This group is beginner-friendly and designed to help you ease into mindfulness through a simple, accessible activity like colouring.
Is this group therapy?
No, this is not a therapy group. While the circle is led by a registered clinical counsellor and designed to promote mindfulness and connection, it is a supportive and creative space for personal reflection and relaxation, not a therapeutic session.
What kind of colouring materials should I bring?
Bring whatever feels right to you—this might include colouring books, printed sheets, blank paper, or even digital colouring apps. Colored pencils, markers, or crayons all work great. Choose what brings you joy and comfort!
Do I need to have my camera on during the session?
To foster safety and connection during introductions and the closing ritual, we ask that cameras be turned on. For the colouring portion, we encourage you to explore different camera views. Showing your colouring in the camera view can enhance the shared environment and create a community feel.
